Quad-Biking in Colorado
We'd been out on a long quad-biking trip, and on the way back came across a huge fallen tree. Our only option (apart from going all the way back) was to build up some smaller logs around the fallen tree, and then drive over the top... -
Feeling Chilly in Chile
We were in Santiago, Chile, for the CITES meeting in 2002. Fortunately for us, we managed to get up into the Andes for the weekend...it was fabulous - what an incredible mountain range... -
Climbing Mt Kenya
We took 4 days to climb Mt Kenya, an undescribably beautiful journey, up through the different climatic zones, from tropical montane forest, through the moorlands and the giant lobelias (seen here), and on up to the moonscape where there is only rock and ice and shingle... -
Climbing Mt Kenya
Climbing is not a pastime for the fashion-conscious... -
A beautiful mountain lake
The beauty of Mt Kenya is breath-taking... -
Ian and I below the peaks
Ian and I stand in front of a beautiful mountain lake with the peaks (our destination) looming up behind us... -

On top of the world! On the summit of Mt Kenya's Point Lenana

Ian and I moved back to UK for a few years...here I am in England, before we moved up to Scotland. -
Running the Safari Marathon for the second year running
The Safari Marathon, run through the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, is a must for any adventurous runner. This was the second time I had done it (2004), and now (end of 2007), I'm psyching myself up for a possible third round - maybe in 2008? -
Happy to have completed the Safari Marathon
Here with my Dad, after finishing my morning exercise! -

In the South of France with good friends Lisa and Andy
On the spur of the moment, we drove to Barcelona for a few days to visit Lisa's brother, and on the way back, stopped to dip our feet in the hot springs in this French spa town. -

At the David Stirling Memorial in Scotland
I had to do some publicity shots for a design project I was working on in New York City - Ian thought the David Stirling Memorial in Scotland would provide a good backdrop. The memorial is set out on the open hills, windswept and wild, and so this location seemed to combine my interest in history with my love of Nature...here are a few of those shots... -

With a hardy Scottish pony
When we went walking in the hills in Scotland, we'd often pass by hardy little ponies, with long manes and shaggy coats, out there braving the wind and the rain. This one was obviously hoping I was carrying carrots instead of a tripod! -

On the Galana River, Tsavo, Kenya
More publicity shots for my NYC design project...this photo was taken on the banks of the Galana River in Tsavo, which is in fact the same river as the one which flows by Kulafumbi - just further downstream. The river changes its name three times, from the Athi (where we are), to the Galana (when it is joined by the Tsavo River) and then the Sabaki as it leaves the Tsavo National Park and heads for Malindi, where it flows out into the Indian Ocean. -
