Added a new bird to our Kulafumbi Bird List today – the Red Billed Teal (also known as the Red Billed Duck), a plump pretty duck with a red bill and striking dark black-brown crown and nape. There are four of the rotund little fellows resting on the sand bank to the left of the balcony as I write, their heads tucked under their wings. It seems the day is too hot for everyone today, even the ducks. Earlier, the Egyptian Geese tried to chase the teals away, but even they’ve given up their bullying antics in favour of a more sedate rest in the shade.
The warthog family – mother and two large young – were out on the sandbank again this morning, enjoying the grass before the sun got too hot. So nice to see they have taken up residence here on our land.
