WHAT & WHERE IS KULAFUMBI?

1724670-982768-thumbnail.jpg 'Kulafumbi' is our family home in Kenya, East Africa. 'Kulafumbi' is a play on the Kiswahili words "kula vumbi", which mean "eat dust", because it was so hot and dusty building our house in this remote, wild, wonderful place. Kulafumbi borders the Tsavo National Park - with no fences between us and the Park, the wildlife comes and goes of its own free will and treats our land as its own, which is exactly how we like it. In turn, we provide a protected area for the wild animals to do as they please. This protected area also creates an important buffer for the river, which forms the boundary between us and the park.

"We are the music-makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems..."

24th December 2007

A bachelor herd of Impala was on the Little Serengeti yesterday evening, and a herd of Waterbuck came down onto the sandbank, looking very relaxed, lying down and resting. It was a beautiful evening.

We have friends arriving today for Christmas, so I will probably be “off air” until after the New Year…although, if I have time, I may try to catch up on all the photos I have yet to load here…I know many of my entries are still missing their pictorial accompaniments.

So it just remains for me to say Best of the Season to you all, and wish you all the best for the New Year…

PS: It's going to be full moon tonight - Christmas Eve - I wonder how often that happens?

Hello Tanya, Thanks for the kind comments on my post (newest painting "Blue Horse"). Your sites are a real pleasure. What a fabulous job you are doing! I like your designs, too and as an avid environmentalist, want to applaud your good works.

I thought you may like to know that your sites pages load very slowly -- I'm in the States.
Feel free to stay in touch. Maybe we can do more work/sharing together.
Happy New year!

Hi there - thanks for leaving your comments. I was interested to read that my site pages are loading so slowly...I wonder if it is because today I have been uploading a huge number of images, non-stop all day, and this may be interfering when you are trying to access the pages? If anyone else is experiencing these problems, please let me know...Thanks!

Tanya:

Could be your loading images as I am having no problems. Or, the mysteries of the cosmos! :)

I'm going to have a look now! (Thanks also for letting me know my pages are loading fine - I think it was perhaps a combination of me uploading new images AND the mysteries of the cosmos...I find there are a lot of these when dealing with cyberspace!)
Off to see your new blog now....Tanya
